In a hot and humid country like India, being able to beat the heat in the comfort of your home is a luxury. Ceiling fans were instrumental in that to some extent, but the dangerously rising mercury levels due to global warming have rendered them futile. When air conditioners or ACs stepped into the scene in this country, it seemed only the affluent could afford it, for that AC was a symbol of class.
